As I sit down to write this post I am traumatized after reading about a real life incident that happened in Mysuru. A young mother of a two year old toddler was found in a pool of blood with her mouth ripped apart through electrocution, done to death by her alleged lover in the cruelest possible way to evade evidence.Reason? She knew him for 7 years and refused his proposal to marry him. A husband away in another state, working for their rosy future lost his wife (though unfaithful) and a toddler, his mother. Makes me shudder to think about the beautiful, unsuspecting young lady who accompanied the monster to a lodge never to return to her family. This is not an isolated incident, there is a spate of violence and cruelty against women in the recent years. As we read with shock about one incident and try to process, there is another one… and there is one more…crimes against women, men, transgender persons…are we as a society lost humanity ? Or lost faith in fellow humans? Or are we love deprived? Or have we lost the sense of right and wrong? Or have we lost the sense of justice? Or the fear of consequences? Or fear of one's God or conscience or karma? More questions than answers… What is our legacy to our next generation? To kill is ok..to steal other person's money is ok? To be greedy is ok…To be self obsessed and oblivious to the sufferings of all else is ok…the world is indeed on fire..to put out the fire, we need to be more kind… have the wisdom of letting go what we cannot have..or what we cannot change…to pause and reflect…to count our blessings…to be little more loving towards all around us…to be little more tolerant towards others' faults…is it enough to put out the fire? We never know.. but surely there will be a lot less ignition…
